Software for the classroom

I am looking for good software to be used in the classroom. Does anyone have any new and inventive ideas of software we should be teaching our students especially in Ag Leadership & Communications, Horticulture, and Ag. Ecomonics? I am looking for something realistic and interactive. Any ideas out there?

I use ProLandscape to teach landscape design. It's very user friendly. You can just drag and drop plants from the list to any picture. The students love it. It also has CAD capibilities for a professional look. I also use Horticopia to search for plants used in specific areas. It's pretty good, but the graphic files are so big that it takes a while to load. pro

There are several other products that have similar features.

Hope this helps.

I agree with ProLandscape from Drafix. It is an immensely powerful program and the kids can go from getting started in the first five minutes and will probably never master it. There is that much stuff to learn.

Check out Plant Tycoon.

A "realistic" game where you grow & sell plants. You can try the online version for free. This is not a fast playing game, it requires that students stop the game and return another day . Great tool. My students were split between those that loved the game and those that could care less. It was a great time filler for students that completed their daily work.

They also have one called Fish Tycoon, but I have not looked at it.
