I LOVE E-MOMENTS! With that said, you may wish to turn off your phone, grab a soda, and clear your schedule as this could be a lengthy email. I use e-moments a lot. However, they are stand alone from the LifeKnowledge lessons. I have the LK curriculum but I just have not been able to allow myself the time to begin implementing it. But, the emoments are little gems. To preface when I first was introduced to some of the emoments I was skeptical. They seemed too fluffy and silly but being the one woman band show I am I decided to try them. My students responded very well. The emoments along with some of the other activities I use have made my job more fun, my lessons more interesting, and the students are learning more.
Below are links to emoment examples I and others have used and how we have used them.

Hieroglyphic Moment- I use this when I am covering a substantial amount of terms. After we go through the terms I have them on separate paper recreate the term in a picture format. This does two things, 1. allows the students to practice using the term, and 2. informs me if they understand the term. They have to completely understand the term to be able to draw it. This can be used in any discipline.
Party Host (this one is so fun)- After covering terms or parts or doing ID of species choose one student to be the party host. Have volunteers or appoint volunteers to play the guests. Assign each guest a species, term, or part. On a card ahead of time I write down the key components of that guest. I most recently used this for Fish ID. So some of the things I wrote down on the cards was, like cold water, grow 8-12" long, white tipped tai depending on the individual species. Then I give guests of the party a few moments to decide how they will enter. The party host invites them in and the guests drop clues to help the party host guess who they are. Some students really get into it and play the parts so well. In the end all the students win.
Almanac and Encyclopedia Moment- Making an analogy of two unlike things. I most recently used this with the parts of the flower and their functions. I asked the students to pick a topic of their choice and relate it to the part and functions of the flower. For example one partner pair chose A Basketball Team, the coach was the receptacle holding the team together much like the receptacle holds the flower together, the ball is the pollen so the point guard is the anther and the stigma is the actual basket. Other students picked a restaurant the customer was the stigma and receives the food, the petal is the menu that attracts the people. And they went on and on. It was great.
I also use several activities that are not necessarily emoments but are useful as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed adding these moments to my classroom. I know many of my colleagues have used them as well and have had great success. I look forward to hearing some of the other examples. Thanks for the great question.
