Our school is way behind in math test scores so we try to incorporate it into many classes. Easy to do with mechanics. I have a fairly rough small eninges class that doesn't like our engine performance unit because it is a LOT of math. I came up with a lab where the students could test their own horsepower. It's not perfect because we don't take into account factors like student weight but its simple and the math is exactly the same as calculating engine horsepower. It worked out great! It was the first time not one student complained about having to do math and every single students wanted to finish! If you need any explanation on any thing just let me know and I can expand.
